Position Description

Specializing in mechatronic controls, we assist developers in managing project development, supply chain, costs, and outcomes, streamlining operations using custom software and off-the-shelf hardware control solutions. Our versatile engineering teams excel in creating electronic systems for the evolving electronic vehicle propulsion and autonomy markets, guiding projects from concept to production. 

As a Functional Safety Engineer on our Systems Safety team, you will be a key contributor in ensuring our hardware and software meet ISO26262 requirements. 

Functional Safety support will include customer projects and SEooC development for our ECU product portfolio, and our embedded model-based development software.

Location: Ann Arbor, MI Global Headquarters
Schedule: M - F, 4-5 days per week on-site. Flexibility as needed.


Key Areas of Responsibility
 

Functional Safety Compliance:

  • Support efforts to achieve and maintain compliance with functional safety standards (e.g., ISO 26262).
  • Provide expertise on safety-related systems and contribute to safety analyses.

Requirements Engineering:

  • Work closely with stakeholders to gather and document functional safety requirements.
  • Ensure clear traceability of requirements throughout the development lifecycle.

Testing and Validation:

  • Develop and execute test plans to validate system functionality and safety.
  • Collaborate with testing teams to ensure comprehensive test coverage.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation, including system specifications, manuals, and safety documentation.
  • Generate reports on system performance, safety metrics, and compliance status.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science – Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or similar
  • At least 5 years of experience with fail-safe and fail operational concepts and strategies for safety related systems
  • Proficiency in ISO26262 at the system, hardware, or software level. 
  • Understanding of electric vehicle systems
  • Experience with Automotive networks such as CAN/LIN
  • Experience with the creation of safety documents including Functional Safety Concept, Technical Safety Concept, Safety Case, FMEA, and FTA
  • Proficient in requirement management, traceability, and system modeling
